KOORAGANG EXPANSION

PWCS is committed to provide additional throughput capacity to meet the export coal demand from the Hunter Valley.

PWCS has a combined development approval capacity of 145 million tonnes per annum ('Mtpa') from its Carrington and Kooragang Terminals. The current combined throughput capacity of PWCS is 113 Mtpa.

Expansion works at the Kooragang Coal Terminal ('KCT') have been progressively undertaken over many years.

The latest expansion activities underway include:

• Extension of two stockpile areas to provide over half a million tonnes of additional coal stockpile area;
• Completing the upgrade of the coal rail receival systems to unload trains and build stockpiles at an increased rate;
• Provision of a fourth berth to upgrade shiploading capacity;
• Dredging to provide a navigation channel for the fourth berth;
• Upgrade of the services to provide power, water, communication and process control infrastructure; and
• Completion of the upgrade of the coal stacking capacity with the replacement of the last two existing Stackers.

All of the additional plant and equipment installed at the Kooragang Coal Terminal contributes to the integrated increase in throughput capacity of the Hunter Valley Coal Chain.

Further scope of the approved Kooragang Coal Terminal Expansion will be implemented as demand increases.

PWCS has recently been granted approval for additional infrastructure including a fourth rail receival facility and a fourth shipping stream including a fourth shiploader.
